Float therapy in Epsom salts can provide relief for arthritis, or inflammation of the joints, by reducing swelling and tension.
What is Arthritis?
Arthritis is inflammation of the joints that causes joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. It isn’t one disease in particular; there are actually over 100 different types, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Osteoarthritis occurs when joint cartilage degenerates and causes bone on bone friction. Rheumatoid arthritis is chronic swelling of the joints, commonly the hands and feet.
How can floating help?
A pilot study posted in Complementary Therapies in Medicine measured the quality of life of 14 participants with chronic osteoarthritis who engaged in float therapy for six weeks. Every participant noted a marked increase or improvement in how they felt after the trial. Studies also show increased mindfulness and stress relief during and after float therapy was effective in those with rheumatoid arthritis, relieving psychological distress. This is so important because stress is a large factor in the inflammation that brings about RA pain.
