Coping with Grief Through Yoga

  • Float SNJ 27 North Maple Avenue Marlton, NJ, 08053 United States (map)

Grief is a strong, often overwhelming emotion, regardless of whether it stems from the loss of someone close, a terminal diagnosis received by yourself or a loved one, the ending of an important relationship, job loss, loss through theft or the loss of independence through disability.

Grief is a natural reactionโ€ฆ both a universal and deeply personal experience.

Although conventionally focused on the emotional response to loss, grief also has physical, cognitive, behavioral, social, cultural, spiritual and philosophical dimensions.

This workshop will teach individuals experiencing grief of all kinds how to utilize sound, breath and movement to express their feelings and to move through the grieving process in a more empowered way. Although it will be experiential, most exercises are done from a seated position and no prior experience with yoga is required.

If you have experienced loss join us on Thursday evening, May 16th at 6:30 PM, at Float SNJ in Marlton, NJ.

Facilitators are: Karen Barkan, Yoga Instructor, and Leah Rubba-Lazarus, LCSW, Holistic Psychotherapist
