Save Your Mind & Body

A 2016 study out of Finland found that frequent heat exposure from saunas throughout the week was associated with lower risk of dementia. That study followed more than 2,300 healthy men who used the sauna each week for six years.

Scientists in Finland have focused on the benefits of saunas, a Scandinavian tradition. Their study published in the American Journal of Hypertension followed more than 1,600 middle-age men with normal blood pressure who used saunas over a 25-year period. People who visited a sauna two or three times a week were 24% less likely to have hypertension compared with those who visited once a week or less. Those who visited four to seven times a week had a 46% reduction.

Lower Blood Pressure, Reduce Stress

“Compared with men who had a sauna only once a week, the risk of high blood pressure was 46 percent lower in those who had a sauna four to seven times a week. Risk of high blood pressure was 24 percent lower in those who had a sauna two to three times a week, according to the study.” - WebMD

“Additionally, consider taking regular saunas because saunas can also help to reduce your levels of stress and anxiety. According to the book “Sauna Therapy for Detoxification and Healing,” written by Dr. Lawrence Wilson, several studies have snows that regular sauna use lowers levels of cortisol, which is the body’s main stress hormone. Dr. Wilson writes that research has shown that sweating increases relaxation, which reduces anxiety and the feeling of frustration.” -Good Health Saunas
